Number of Required Treatments:
Laser treatments usually start at a 6 -8 week intervals. Your particular schedule will be based on your present hair growth cycle as well as other factors. These are only approximations and may vary. The industry average is 6-12 sessions. Treatments can take from just 10 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.
Preparing for Treatments:
- Before your treatments, do not tweeze, wax, or thread since these can interfere with hair follicles and the laser’s ability to reduce hair growth.
- Shave the area thoroughly and completely just before your appointment. Feel free to bring your razor with you in a plastic bag for any missed spots or stray hairs.
- For underarm treatments, please refrain from applying antiperspirants prior to your appointment, unless they are aluminum free. They can be applied immediately after.
- Avoid tanning, self tanners and tanning beds prior you your appointment. Self tanners may be safely removed with Head and Shoulders shampoo.
- Accutane should not be used within 6 months prior to laser treatments.
- If you have a history of recurrent cold sores, herpes or shingles in the area being treated, an anti-viral prescription is recommended prior to your appointment.
After Care:
Following your laser treatments, your skin's immediate reaction will appear pink to red with a bit of inflammation. Feel free to apply ice to any treated areas to reduce irritation and swelling. The next day or so it may feel like a mild sunburn. Aloe vera gel is recommended to help soothe the treated area. You should also avoid exposure to the treated area from all sun and UV lights. After 2-4 weeks you will see treated hairs will start to shed and regrowth will be finer and lighter.
